Betley Walk 14th June 2008

The 2008 UWC-GB Walk expanded on the previous year’s idea to enable more people to participate as well as exploring new territory by holding the event on the Cheshire/North Staffordshire border. The event was coordinated by Maggie Pearson, who generously offered her home in Betley, between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe, as the base for the day’s events. The team of hikers successfully completed the challenge with only a couple of wrong turns along the way, and the rain thankfully held off for most of the day!

The GB Committee getting off the ground

UWC GB Team at Selections 05
Given that the first United World College, Atlantic College, was in Wales, you might think that the GB (Great Britain) National Committee would be one of the oldest Committees in the movement - but you'd be wrong. At merely four years old, the Committee is actually one of the youngest in the movement; until 2001 Atlantic College was responsible for selection within the UK.
